"One Future.... One Planet".
‘One Future ..One Planet’ is a global initiative and project for
creating sustainable communities. Initiated in November 2011, this project has since attracted numerous individuals and organisations who share the same vision and commitment to the co-creation of an equitable and flourishing society and future. You can download the powerpoint presentation, visit the official website or read on for a brief overview of the project.
Project objectives & strategies
The objective of this project is to inspire and support the emergence of synergies and new forms of communities and collaborative networks that focus on co-creating a society and future where people and Nature flourish together. Based on the trust that people know deep in their being the kind of future and society they want, three strategies have been created to help bring this forth in concrete actions and a shared vision for our future. All three strategies are placed within global context of Rio +20 Conference to further build up the momentum and strategy for action and systemic change.

These strategies are:
- A shared language and understanding about how to measure, compare, and asses the impact of our actions at all levels of society. This is achieved through the formation of a Unifying Framework for Sustainable Development that will be used to inform actions and develop matrixes for prioritization. Developers and users of sustainability frameworks such as ZERI, Natural Capitalism, Cradle to Cradle, GRI, TNS (just to name a few) will be invited to co-create the Unifying Framework concept to support alignment and synergy amongst existing sustainability tools and frameworks. This framework will be communicated to UNCSD at Rio+20 and after that, become a resource to support planning and implementation of sustainable development society in all relevant domains. It will also serve to nurture a common language to bridge the gaps among governments, businesses and society.
- A unifying process that invites and inspires people from all over the world to join in the co-creation of the kind of future and society we want. Global Dialogues offers this unifying process, which through five simple steps - Connect, Envision, Engage, Reflect, and Share - inspires and engages people to come together in co-creating the future through collaborative actions and new synergies. The Global Dialogues are planned as side events to both conferences - Stockholm +40 and Rio+20 UN to inform political leaders of the voices and visions of the people. The Global Dialogues also serve the purpose of creating global scale momentum leading up to these conferences by engaging people from all ages and backgrounds to take responsibility together for the kind of future and society they want. At the Rio+20 Conference we will organize a 1.000 Tables Dialogue – 10.000 people; 1.000 facilitators involved. This will be communicated globally and people will be invited around the world to host Global Dialogues simultaneously and, with the help of technology, connect them to the main event in Rio. A report will be produced and submitted to the UNCSD.The Global Dialogues will also contribute to the co-creation of a ‘Unifying Framework for Sustainable Development’ by supporting people to create a shared vision for the future we want, reflect and learn more about our current situation on local and global levels, and inspire collaborative actions to bridge the gap.
- Engagement of the younger generations to prepare them in becoming planetary stewards for our collective Wellbeing. This is achieved through collaboration with "The Call" - a Global Game for Social Change created to engage youth from all over the world to join hands and create networks of collaborative projects for social and environmental change in their homes, neighbourhoods and around the globe. "The Call" is created as an online game that is played in the real world, integrating physical and digital space by connecting and challenging people around the world to play with each other to perform tasks that transform our world. "One future … One Planet" is collaborating with ‘The Call’ project in the following ways: (a) The 1.000 Tables together with pre-launch of "The Call" at Rio+20 to create momentum with youth within the conference environment (official launch of the game - Dec 2012); (b) The project provides the Unifying Framework concept to game developers to ensure that tasks and actions, taken by players, are leading towards sustainable development. This further assists the development of the ‘Impact Meter’ to measure sustainability impact within the game.
